The FRANK Veterinary Communication Program offers veterinary professionals expert guidance on enriching the veterinary professional-client-patient interaction, which is at the very heart of a successful clinical practice. The FRANK Veterinary Communication Program is designed to help veterinary professionals enhance their communication skills in the same way as any other clinical skill – they are taught the concepts and then practice them over a day and a half in an intensive experiential learning environment. The FRANK 1.0 workshop focuses on implementing 10 communication skills to facilitate agenda-setting, information gathering, and developing a complete picture of the client and patient and their greater environmental context, which acts as a foundation for collaborative and efficient diagnostic and treatment planning. Highlights of the FRANK program include an experiential workshop, small group labs with simulated clients, clinically relevant cases, and opportunities to learn from experienced communication coaches, veterinary colleagues, and self-reflection.
